Mid-size maps
This set of maps is optimized for on-screen presentations (e.g. PowerPoint, Web, etc.) and for letter page printing (A4 format or similar). The maps are provided in the loss-less PNG format, with the approximate size 1 to 4 MPix.
We have developed the largest collection of solar resource maps to help the solar industry with development of solar projects. You are free to download, share, adapt, use the maps but we ask you to give appropriate credit.
Maps and data for countries eligible for official development assistance (ODA, 140+ countries) have been released in parallel with Global Solar Atlas - published by the World Bank Group, funded by ESMAP, and prepared by Solargis. Other countries (specifically OECD countries) might not have all map/data products available for free download. Maps provided as high resolution, ready-to-print image files for poster-size formats on various materials (paper, canvas, boards, stickers, etc.). The files are provided in the loss-less TIF format with the approximate size of 100 MPix.
Solar radiation and other parameters are provided as raster (gridded) data. Data can be used for visualization, further processing, and geo-analysis in all mainstream GIS software with raster data processing capabilities.
Map data are served as high-resolution images, provided in a format suitable for viewing and analyzing in a desktop version of Google Earth software. High detail of the maps reveals even very local variability of solar radiation, especially in the areas with complex terrain.
For easy manipulation with GIS data files, selected vector and raster data files are integrated into ready-to-open QGIS project with colour schemes and annotation. QGIS is state-of-art open-source GIS software allowing visualization, query and analysis on the provided data. Available for selected countries only.
